The idea for this initiative emerged in 2009 in response to the catastrophic consequences of successive political crises on the daily lives of the population and the development of the country. Above all, it was noted that citizens are often unaware of their fundamental rights, which reduces them to suffering or exceeding these rights.

Lalana then chose the playful form to sensitize and inform the population on the notions of Human Rights and Democracy. The choice was justified by the fact that involving ordinary citizens and people different from those who usually occupy the political landscape would raise awareness and encourage citizen expression.

The game will be conducted in the form of a quiz that will compete among target groups made up of homogeneous groups in relation to levels of interest and education. The tournaments will be organized in 10 regions of Madagascar and broadcast on the national television (TVM) and national radio (RNM).

History of the project name

Fantatro which translates as "I know" wants to transcribe the objective of the project which is to transmit basic knowledge about Democracy and Human Rights to the citizens. Through this name, the project wants to internalize the commitment of each member of the target groups to be informed and to know their fundamental rights and democratic values.

Objectives of the project

The overall objective of the project is to contribute to the promotion of responsible citizenship and respect for democratic values and Human Rights.

Its specific objective is to make the public aware of the principles and values of democracy and the fundamental freedoms described in Human Rights.

Beyond the theoretical definitions of democracy and knowledge of the articles related to Human Rights, the Project will bring these notions to the understanding of citizens from all social strata and all levels of education. Through accompanying activities carried out with the target groups, these notions will be related to the daily life of citizens, whether at the level of the family, the neighborhood and the commune, the school or professional environment (including the peasant environment), the associative environment, and also in politics.
